Book: New Seeds of Contemplation, by Thomas Merton. The pages are worn, corners folded, and it remains a constant on my nightstand.
Movie: The Count of Monte Cristo. A creative story filled with adventure, pirates, betrayal, revenge, forgiveness, redemption – this movie has it all!
Animal: I love dogs and have rarely been without one in life. We have three in our family - a rottweiler mix (Rocky), chocolate lab (Aspen), and German Shepard (Breck). All named after Colorado places because we’re cheesy like that.
Movie: My favorite movie varies because I love the art of filmmaking, but here are a few of my favorites: Superman: The Movie (1978), JAWS, I, Tonya and Drop Dead Gorgeous.
Animal: My favorite animal is the narwhal. While they are, in fact, not mythical, they are good at helping elves find their fathers.
Song: At this moment I choose “Not While I’m Around” by Stephen Sondheim as sung by Angela Lansbury. Her talents were and are underappreciated.
Movie: My favorite movie is The Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson. I really enjoy his use of muted colors and camera framing to make even a simple story wonderful.
Food: My favorite food is Gazpacho! This cold vegetable soup brings me back wonderful childhood memories as well as my time spent in Spain.
Band: My favorite band is Wild Child. This band creates an up-beat folky tune that makes me want to sing along.
Movie: While my favorite movie tends to change a lot (since I watch too many), my current favorite is Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. To me, it is one of those near perfect films that blends multiple genres, has some elements that are pretty wacky, is relatable and can make you think about what is important in life.
Food: My favorite food is sushi. I could probably eat it every day! There are so many different things that you can try, and every place you go to is unique.
Musician: My favorite musician at the moment is Djo. I think that his music takes parts of many genres and eras to create something that is different yet nostalgic.
Book: Into the Wild by John Krakauer. It’s about burning your money, leaving behind all your worldly possessions and living life in its truest form: one with nature.
Food: I love New England Clam Chowder because I grew up on chunky soup and my favorite food destination is Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. My goal is to try every clam chowder on the wharf.
Book: The Body: A Guide for Occupants – This book is packed full of interesting facts about the human body as well as the scientific studies that helped us know what we do about the body. It is written by Bill Bryson, who has a magical way with words and putting complex topics into layman’s terms so anyone can understand and enjoy it.
Food: Sushi, there are so many different kinds, and you are almost guaranteed to hear jazz at any sushi restaurant in northern Colorado. It’s weird but true.
Animal: This one is easy. Sea otters, they are cute and love the water…just like me.
Team: I have been a Buffalo Bills fan my entire existence, as they give me all the emotions I can handle. I absolutely love Josh Allen and a Super Bowl victory is all I really need in life.
Food: Anything pasta. Everything pasta. It could be all three meals of the day and I would never complain and probably end up asking for more.
Band: I have seen the band, 311, seven times in concert with most of those occurring at Red Rocks. Outside of my own birthday, 311 Day (March 11th) is my favorite day of the year as I always listen to their full collection of 13 albums from start to finish throughout the day to celebrate.
Team: My favorite sports team is the Loveland Titans, of course! I’ve coached my son on the team for the last 3 years. (Also love the Broncos.)
Food: Whatever my wife cooks is my favorite food. She is an amazing cook. But you can never go wrong with a nice deep dish pizza.
Book: The Long Goodbye by Raymond Chandler is my favorite. It’s a noir detective story written by a master of prose.
Sport: I love basketball, specifically NBA. I think the best overall athletes are basketball players and the trash talk is the greatest of all sports.
Animal: Elephants have an intelligence that is through the roof. They problem solve, hold grudges, bury their dead, and they are tremendous in size.
Song: I love “Try a Little Tenderness” by Otis Ridding. It starts slow and then builds to a party. Otis had what I think is a top 5 voice.
Animal: My favorite animal is a bear. I’ve always thought they were unique.
Food: My favorite food is pizza. It’s hard to make a bad pizza.
